Moira Tierney will premiere a new collaborative film/performance with Paris-based Irish artist and musician Macdara Smith. Tierney and Smith have worked together in the past, creating the highly successful Here We All Do What Has To Be Done, which played to packed houses at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in 2007 and What's Yer Fancy, which was selected for the Filmer La Musique Festival in 2009. Typically these performances consist of a projected montage of Tierney's film and slide images with live audio by Smith and his acoustic group.
The screening in Paris will be hosted by the Collectif Jeune Cinema, a very active distribution and curation collective, who distribute Tierney's films and program her work on a regular basis, most recently at the Rotterdam Film Festival (2012), a screening for which Tierney received Distribution Funding from the Irish Film Board. Screening will take place at the end of April; date to be announced early 2013
Moira Tierney will present two screenings of her work in Marseille, at the Polygone Etoile and at Le Locale (run by the 141 Lumen collective). The Polygone Etoile is one of Marseille's most established independent film organisations, operating a regular screening series as well as an ongoing production workshop and outreach to the local community. Le Locale is a new venue run by a collective of local artists whose regular storefront events range from independent hip-hop to retrospectives of local and international film-makers. Films to be screened include Tierney's Irish Arts Council-funded documentary film Matilda Tone and Bellefont 31! a collaborative documentary which was presented at the Rotterdam Film Festival by the Collectif Jeune Cinema in 2012. Screening will take place at the end of May / beginning of June; date to be announced early 2013
